“The Whole is Different from the Sum of its Parts”

Dr. Gao is a knowledgeable and detail-oriented acupuncturist and herbalist who is attaching importance to the synergistic effects of acupoint combination and herbal interactions so as to provide each patient the best individualized treatment plan.

Bio
As a TCM practitioner, Dr. Gao is meticulous in reaching the most appropriate diagnosis and creating the most effective treatment plan for each patient without exceptions.

Dr. Gao treats with a traditional TCM acupuncture style, ensuring a strong DeQi sensation. The term DeQi can be literally translated as “the arrival of vital energy”, which is not only a type of needle sensation but a traditional prerequisite criterion for clinica
l therapeutic effects. His acupuncture treatments usually bring strong therapeutic effects with strong needling sensations (including but not limited to tingling, numbness, heaviness, and moving sensations). In his practice, Dr. Gao applies customized treatment for each patient by combining multiple TCM-related therapies, which include cupping, Moxibustion, Gua Sha, nutrition, and lifestyle advice.

As a TCM herbalist with a BS in biochemistry, Dr. Gao has unique viewpoints in assessing patients’ health concerns. He actively seeks the best solution by combining interdisciplinary knowledge from ancient Chinese herbal theories and modern scientific research. As a native Mandarin speaker, Dr. Gao studies herbal knowledge by searching and deconstructing hundreds of herbal formulas from classical Chinese texts. He then combines this knowledge with state-of-the-art scientific herbal research from highly reputable medical journals. This allows Dr. Gao to understand the unique synergistic effects between hundreds of natural herbs to create a comprehensive mental database when it comes to clinical application of herbal formulas.
