Kyle Shinners, L.Ac
Growing up in Buffalo, NY, Kyle was an All-American lacrosse player who studied Medical Anthropology at Harvard University, graduating with honors in 2001. During his athletic career, he suffered two major knee injuries that required reconstructive surgery and massive rehabilitation. Fortunately these adversities led Kyle to find Traditional Chinese Medicine and sparked his innate gift and passion for integrative medicine.
Post graduation, inspired by the way of the ancient wandering Daoist, Kyle simplified his possessions and journeyed forth to study and apprentice with master teachers, physicians and medicine people from various cultures around the world. For over a decade now, he has treated thousands of clients as a certified Massage Therapist and a DCT master trainer (www.dynamiccontractiontechnique.com).
Currently, he continues to deepen his knowledge as a member of the DongHan Clan under the direct study of Daoist Grandmaster Sung Baek and is completing a Doctoral Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego.
Whether sitting in stillness as a lay monk in Wat Suan Mokhe, facilitating stretching for Olympic athletes, practicing horse stance in the clouds of Wu Dang Mountain, treating high rise executives in Manhattan, chopping wood for the homestead, or simply changing his daughter’s diaper, Kyle has come to recognize all experience as an opportunity to heal and evolve as humans.
As an integrative practitioner, Kyle balances his vast experience of high performance athletic training and rehabilitation with years of practice in the wisdom teachings of yoga, tai ji, meditation and TCM. He combines a uniquely diverse set of technical skills and a highly developed intuitive touch to create a safe environment for optimum healing. Each treatment and coaching session dramatically increases body-mind awareness, and empowers clients with the personal tools to unlock their highest potential.
